Privacy Policy
We collect as little as we can get away with. Here is exactly what that means.

The short version
You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are. We have no accounts and no logins. The only personal information we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to give it to us. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers — not now, not later.
Who we are
Be Kind Anyway publishes this website and the video stories that go with it. If you have a question about anything here, or you want your information removed, write to patrick@bekindanyway.com and a human will answer.
What we collect
Two things, and nothing else:
- Your email address, if you submit the newsletter form. We store it along with the date and a note that it came from this website.
- Ordinary server logs. Like every website, our host records requests — IP address, browser type, the page requested, the time. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and we do not use them to build a profile of you.
We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not use an analytics product that follows you between websites.
Cookies
This site sets no tracking cookies of its own. Video players and embedded content can set their own storage once you interact with them — see the next section.
Other companies involved
Running a website means trusting a few services. Each of these has its own privacy policy, and each only receives what it needs:
- Vercel hosts the site and keeps the server logs described above.
- Supabase stores newsletter email addresses in a database we control.
- Resend delivers email we send to subscribers.
- YouTube hosts our videos. Episode pages show a still image until you press play — nothing loads from YouTube before that, and when it does we use their privacy-enhanced
youtube-nocookie.complayer. Once you press play, YouTube's own policy applies to what happens inside that player. - Vivida View provides the interactive vision board on our About page.
What we do with your email
We use it to send you notes about new stories and what the channel is doing. That is the whole purpose. We will not use it to send you advertising for other companies.
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list — no confirmation email, no survey, no attempt to talk you out of it. If a link ever fails you, write to patrick@bekindanyway.com and we will remove you by hand, without asking why.
How long we keep it
Your email stays on the list until you ask us to remove it. Server logs are kept only as long as our host retains them in the ordinary course of running the service.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — write to patrick@bekindanyway.com. We honour these requests regardless of whether the law where you live requires it, because it is your information.
If you are in California
We operate from California, so it is worth saying explicitly: we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We never have. Exercising any of the rights above will never cost you anything or change how we treat you.
Where your information is held
Our service providers store data on servers in the United States. If you are writing to us from elsewhere, you are sending your information there.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us an email address, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, and we have your email, we will tell you directly rather than hoping you notice.
