Using this site

By visiting bekindanyway.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the revision.

How our stories are made

This matters to us, so we would rather say it plainly than bury it.

We tell two kinds of story, and we label which is which.

Most are dramatisations. Names, places, and details are changed, combined, or invented, and the story may be a composite rather than a record of a specific event. Unless a film tells you otherwise, do not read it as reporting on real, identifiable people.

Some retell documented acts of kindness by real people — often historical figures whose lives are a matter of public record. Where we do that we say so plainly in the film and in its description, and we base the account on published sources. Even then, dialogue is frequently written rather than quoted, because most moments in a life were never transcribed.

In both cases the imagery and narration are produced with AI tools. What you see is an artistic recreation, not archival footage, and the voices are synthetic rather than recordings of the people depicted. Nothing in our films should be taken as authentic documentary material, and no portrayal of a real person implies that they, their family, or their estate endorses this channel. We disclose the use of synthetic media on the platforms that ask for it, and we are telling you here as well.

What is never synthetic is the writing and the intent behind it: the scripts, the editorial choices, and the point of every story are our own. If you believe we have portrayed someone unfairly or inaccurately, write to us and we will listen.

What belongs to us

The stories, scripts, films, images, music, text, logos, and design on this site belong to Be Kind Anyway or to the people we licensed them from. You are welcome to watch, read, link to, and share our work as published.

Without our written permission, please do not re-upload our videos to another account or platform, republish our writing as your own, use our name or logo to suggest we endorse something, or train a machine learning model on our work.

Fair use of the site itself

Do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or the systems behind it, and do not scrape it in ways that interfere with other people using it. Ordinary reading, sharing, and search engine indexing are all fine.

The newsletter

If you give us your email address you are asking us to write to you about the channel. Give us an address you are entitled to use. You can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by writing to patrick@bekindanyway.com. How we handle that address is covered in our Privacy Policy.

Links and embedded content

We link to other organisations — including the causes we highlight — and we embed video and other content from third parties. We do not control those sites or services and we are not responsible for them. Anything you do there is between you and them.

Not advice

Our stories touch on hard things: loss, hardship, illness, and recovery. They are storytelling, not professional advice, and they are not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal, or financial help. If you are struggling, please talk to someone qualified to help you.

What we promise, and what we don't

We work hard to keep this site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is". We do not warrant that it will always be available, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Be Kind Anyway is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law
